I've got a new tattoo! Got it yesterday at Nocturnal TattooClub by Gino Dartnall. Had such a lovely experience getting tattooed there, such nice people! These were taken and edited on my phone while I was getting tattooed (last one taken by Victoria Rose), hence the quality. Sat for over 5 hours! Will be going back to add more detail in the camera in a couple of weeks.

I'll come back with more info about the tattoo and of course a picture of the finished result later on! Now I need to make dinner before Bourne Chambers' Horror Night commences.

And you know we don't give a fuck if it's you're birthday!

Okay, so I'm slightly inebriated writing this, but I just wanted to say thank you for all the support I've been getting from everyone! I probably won't be doing a 2011 resumé, I'll just recap and say that the high was moving to England, the low was loosing Vicky, but also that I am so appreciative of all the comments and follows, you have no idea! I'm heading to the airport in about an hour, flying back to my dear England. First I thought I'd share some pictures I took today. I sold my 50mm 1.8, the lens that has been my main lens since I got it for Christmas from my grandparents two years ago. I always get a tad bit too attached to things (Toy Story Syndrome you say?), making it difficult for me to part ways with stuff. After all this lens has been a huge part of my photography, and thus my life. Anyway, before packing it up at shipping it off, I took a few shots of the lovely light coming through my window, one last experience with an old friend.

I've had a lovely Christmas so far, seeing my family and friends again! Hope your holidays have been wonderful as well! For Christmas I got a bunch of CDs, some DVDs, perfume and toiletries, jewelry and picture frames, superundertøy, and a whole lotta money (which I wished for instead of big pressies, being a student and all). Though I've sorta decided to fuck being responsible with them, and might (probably will) be investing in some new glass for my baby. Yay, very happy with this year's gifts. Now, any opinions on what I should go for; a 35mm or upgrade my 50mm 1.8 lens?

Pulled an allnighter before the hand in yesterday, finishing my sketchbook, packing, tidying my room, doing dishes and what have you, and then getting my ass to uni to hand my stuff in before having to go back, get my shit together and my ass to the station by 1. Then to Gatwick where I was stopped because of scissors in my camera bag. I didn't even know they were there, and it took forever to find them, but the security guy was cool so no real biggie. Landed just before midnight and saw snow for the first time this winter, and got picked up by my dad who drove me to his. There I caught most of the Kaizers Orchestra live at Spektrum viewing on TV. Nice. And now I'm at my aunt's in Oslo. Will be heading home to Hamar on Monday.

We don't waste no precious time.

I fucked up on the shoot on Saturday, moped around on Sunday, had a slight hallelujah moment on Monday, went to London yesterday, and will be working in the darkroom today! Ha, no time to write proper entries at the moment! But just look at the pictures in the meantime and bare with me yeah.

I was supposed to shoot my final images for my project today, but it's been rescheduled till tomorrow. We're only allowed to use analogue processes for this project, and I am shooting fashion portraits using a Hasselblad. Shot with a Hasselblad for the first time this Tuesday. Three hours in the studio with my first model and I had of course managed to load the film the wrong way! I'm just really glad it happened then during a test shoot, and not during a really important one. Will never make that mistake again. The second model could only stay for about 15 minutes, but at least that film came out. However there was a darker line going through the entire film, so I must have mucked it up when I was developing it (it was also my first time developing medium format film on Wednesday).

The benefits of Tuesday was that I was at uni so if there was something I was struggling with, all I had to do was run to one of the technicians to get some help. Tomorrow I'm setting up a studio where I live, so I'm basically on my own. I also desperately need for those images to come out good as we have to hand everything in on the 16. That may sound like a good while, but not only do I have to shoot the images, I have to develop the film, make contact sheets, decide what pictures to use, print them perfectly, hand colour them (which I've never done before herp derp) AND have a complete sketchbook full of various references, inspiration, artists, analysis and thoughts about my images, my process, my end result blah blah blah. So no, I do not have a lot of time. But then really, this is what I get for procrastinating so god damn much.

I have several pictures to show you, both from various shoots to the trip I had to Lacock Abbey where parts of the Harry Potter films were shot, but also where one of the earliest forms of photography (the calotype) was invented, and to Paris to attend Paris Photo. Right now I am swamped with work though, so I don't really have time to edit personal pictures at the moment. I've been sick with the flu since Saturday, spending almost all my time in my room and going quite stir crazy. It wouldn't let up, so on Wednesday I went to see the doctor (I've never had to go to the doctor because I was sick before), and he prescribed me some antibiotics (also a first). It's thankfully making me feel better, as I am frikkin' sick and tired of being sick and tired. This is the second time I've gotten the flu (or something flu-like) in a month. Our school week wasn't too hectic though, so I didn't miss out on much, except of course the one workshop I was really looking forward to, which was learning about studio lighting and testing it using Polaroid backs on Hasselblads.

Anyway, hurray for the weekend. I've got pills and strawberry chocolate from Lidl. It's not so bad.

I like to keep my issues strong.

School started for real this week, and there's a plethora of information being thrown our way for us to absorb. A bit overwhelming at first, but once I get the hang of things and adjust to being a student at university, I'm sure it'll be fine. We've also gotten our first project, named "primitive". The gist of the assignment is that we can't work digitally, which is what I normally do. Now, I've done darkroom before, but that was two years ago. I am however excited to work with film, as it forces you to make more conscious choices when shooting, and the facilities here are top notch as well!

Other than that, the fire alarm went off at 2 am tonight. I woke up, completely confused. Good thing it wasn't an actual fire as it took me several minutes to get the fuck outta there (I remember curling up under my covers, thinking "maybe if I ignore it long enough, it'll just stop"). It was so frikkin' cold outside, with the wind and all, and only after maybe 20 minutes we were allowed back in by the firemen. What they didn't do (because they couldn't), was turn the alarm off. We tried calling the security company, our hall monitor person, all the emergency numbers we have, friends living near the school (to go track down a security guard), and so on. Was nearly impossible to get a hold of anyone, and the only person who could help us out was apparently 25 miles away. He eventually came, after we had all huddled up in the hall (the alarms were really loud in our rooms, and slightly more muted in the halls). So from the time the alarm went off, it took an hour and three quarters before it was finally turned off. So not amused.

This graveyards seems a bit forgotten. There are headstones in the bushes, ivy crawling over everything and squirrels and rabbits running wild. Also, it's right behind the building I live in. I was beside myself when I found out! I just love it. The last picture is of my building, the side facing the graveyard. The first four of the six windows in the middle row are mine.

Since moving to England on Monday, things have been pretty hectic and I'm sure they'll stay hectic in the coming weeks (school starts for real on Monday, along with Freshers). Instead of promising a long post about my first week later on, I'll just try and summarize it now:

Had a period of like two hours the day I came down where I was thinking to myself "shit, I wanna go home". Met some people and lost all thoughts of regret and negativity. Fell more and more in love with the town, even without seeing that much of it. Partying, clubbing and drinking four out of six days (yesterday we went clubbing in a church). Toured the school and met the head of my course. Am really looking forward to starting now. And yeah. I'm basically really enjoying myself. The town and the people are even more than I hoped for, so now it just remains to see if the course will live up to my expectations as well (and I have a feeling that it will).

I've been watching him for seven days.

Organize my music library (before I pack up all my CDs in boxes)
Test film camera and have the film developed (we're required to bring a film camera to school)
Print out tickets and important information (flight, taxi)

16 days till I move to England! The days go by painfully slow, but right now I'm in Oslo to attend Tori's housewarming party, so at least there's some fun to be had! And some quality time with Anders before I leave is a must.

Don't think I've mentioned it before, but I've gotten my first assignment from school! Take a picture with the theme "nothing". I must admit, I haven't worked on it much yet. I have an idea for it, but it isn't doable before I leave, so I have to brainstorm some more. I tend to get stuck on one idea, but if it can't be done, I have no choice but to come up with something else. The final result is to be displayed in our first week, to give an impression of our work, so I don't want to end up with something I'm not proud of.

And I'll cross oceans like never before.

This has been a long ass summer (I finished high school in December after all). When are you starting school?

The only photo I took during a concert yesterday, because I only had my crappy phone with me (damn photo-bans!). Still, couldn't not shoot this!

Yesterday was amazing. I don't want to ramble on too long, not that I even know how to properly convey yesterday's magic, but I fear that this will be a rambling mess. Ah, well.

First, we (me, my brother, and his girlfriend Stine) did a lil shopping. Stine picked up Team Me's EP, and I was like "you know we just walked past them, right?" So of course we had to get the EP signed. Which we did. Then, after watching Kaia perform, we headed over to see Real Ones (which was great)! During one of their songs, the amazingly talented Susanne Sundfør came on to sing (also great), and after she finished the song, she walked on this enclosed area on the side of the audience to catch the rest of the band's show. When we saw her, Stine kinda yelled out to her, and she blew kisses and waved at us. We're such fangurlz. We then headed over to the main stage and caught the final song from Wiz Khalifa's show (yeah, uh uhu, you know what it is! Black and yellow, black and yellow). Not much of a hip hop fan, but that song makes me want to dance!

We kinda got the times mixed up and thought Fleet Foxes was up after Wiz, but instead it was Guided By Voices. We had grabbed spots right up at front center stage, and decided to stay there during the GBV concert so we would still have the spots when Fleet Foxes and Kaizers Orchestra would be playing (we weren't the only ones who had thought of this, so it was a smart call to stay). So that means we stood there from the time Wiz was finished (about 4.30 pm) through to the end of Kaizers' show (about 11.10 pm). But boy was i worth it!

To see Fleet Foxes again was amazing, and Kaizers were kick-ass as always. During one part of the show Janove stood on stage and looked straight at me with his hands extended to the audience, and although I was looking straight at him, I was a bit too dazed to fully process it. It wasn't until the guy standing next to me went "that was totally for you!" that I fully got it. And when the show ended and the festival was closing, we, along with all the other some 8000 people headed for the exits. And then, in the mass of people who should we run in to but two of the guys from Fleet Foxes! I am still amazed that I even managed to spot them in the darkness, but I am so glad I did! I managed to stutter out "hug?", and got hugs from both of them! And they told us they had seen us standing at the front during their show. Such a wonderful ending to a wonderful day! Øya i mitt hjerte.

The events that took place in Norway less than 48 hours ago have left me nothing short of stunned. The hours since the first reports of an explosion came in was spent following the news, each new development more shocking that the previous. I am amazed at what people are capable of, both in cruelty and for survival. My deepest condolences goes to those affected by this heinous act, and their loved ones.

The pictures above are from a gathering that took place in my town this evening, in remembrance of two local boys who died at Utøya. One of whom I went to school with.

I brought out my old Canon 400D for the first time since buying my 5DMKII in December. It felt so light and dainty. Can't believe I used to think of it as big and heavy. I brought it out to recharge the battery (Hanne requested I bring a camera to a party we're going to with our old classmates tomorrow), but it was still full even after all these months.

Yesterday was, as I mentioned before, my last day at work. I spent the entire time printing, filling up my entire portfolio with updated prints. Actually didn't leave until about 8PM. Then I met up with some friends before Elise and I headed for the midnight viewing of the last Harry Potter film. 3D; not for me. May have had something to do with sitting on the third row though.

Don't think I mentioned this on the blog before, but a photo I took is featured in an article on P3.no about people going to Roskilde for the first time and being followed by NRK for a series. Kinda fun.

And never go to sleep.

How did you start with photography?

In high school I studied on a line called media and communication, where we were taught many different things like animation, graphic design, radio, film, photography and so on. So in my first year of high school (in November 07 actually), the class was given the choice between having photography for a few weeks, or having sound. I chose photography and immediately fell in love. Before this period at school I didn't even know what an SLR was, but like a week or so after the period I bought my very own (it was a Canon 400D, that I wrote the story of here. It's in Norwegian though).

What camera and lenses do you work with?

I use a Canon 5D Mark II with a Tamron 90mm 2.8 and a Canon 50mm 1.8.

What's your favourite lens?

I like both my lenses (though I hope to get another one soon), but I suppose the 50mm one is the one I use the most.

What films do you use (brand, ASA, expiry date)?

I don't often shoot with film, but when I do I kinda end up buying whatever the shop may have, or whatever is cheap (for instance, I bought a pack of 120 film that had expired because I got a great price on it). Hopefully, as I get more and more comfortable with film, I'll make more reflected choices on which ones I use.

How do you scan your negatives? Do you need a special scanner?

I have a Canon 8800f (I think) scanner, that has a feature that lets you scan your film.

How did you start commercially?

I haven't yet, ha ha! Hopefully I'll have the confidence and time to really promote myself in that way soon.

How did you gain the confidence to start charging your clients?

I've had crap confidence in that, so I've ended up charging way little, which I've always regretted later on because it actually is a lot of work.

When you first started charging people, how much was your rate, and how did you price your work?

Like I mentioned, I charged very little. I've kinda stopped doing that, but at the same time I've stopped trying to get paid work (not that I've ever really tried very hard). That's because I just haven't had the time to focus on promoting myself like that, and I decided that when I actually had the time to focus on photography, I wanted to work on stuff that would enhance my portfolio. Of course, after finishing school I do in theory have more time, but there's a lot to be done before I leave for England (although I got a mail a few days back confirming that I now have a place to live, so that's one thing less to worry about!) and I want to focus on personal work and friends and family.

Did you attend art school to learn photography or are you self taught?

Although I was introduced to photography in high school, we were only taught the basics (shutter, aperture, ISO etc), which I later explored on my own, so I would say that I am mainly self taught. I will however be moving to England in the Fall to attend Arts University College at Bournemouth.

What is your post processing work flow on photoshop?

Fiddling in RAW - Retouching - Colour adjusting - Saving.

I don't really know how to describe it more precisely than this, but this is the four steps that I go through.

Would you ever give out some of your presets (actions/curves, etc) for free like what a lot of professional photographers do as a token of appreciation?

I don't have any presets or actions because I don't use them myself. If I ever were to make some, then perhaps I'd consider starting a shop or sharing some for free.

What do you like shooting?

It's a bit hard to answer. I usually gravitate towards people and shooting portraits or fashion, but I can get as much joy from shooting objects, like the suitcase and floating cameras for instance.

Do you have a photography-secret (of the type that when you discovered it, you couldn't understand why you hadn't done it like that all along)?

Well, kinda. I have noticed that external flashes are kinda undervalued in the blogosphere, that people who don't own one don't see why they would want one, and those who do own one don't really find much use in it. I however found that my external flash gave me a lot of freedom when it came to shooting inside, or shooting when there's limited light outside (during wintertime in Norway it gets dark very early), and I was surprised that an external flash wasn't something more people used. I have the Canon Speedlite 580EX II, which is the most expensive one, but I'm sure that as long as you have a flash that lets you twist it so you can bounce it of the ceiling, of a reflector, off a friends shirt (Hi Anders!), then it should help a long way! Of course, there are cameras that already have an integrated flash (like the Canon 500D), but since you're not able to twist it (and you don't have as many settings you can adjust), it can't really compete with an external flash.

Here's some examples of pictures I've taken with my flash

1, 3, 13 haven't been published before because I'm not done editing them, or because I haven't had any intention to publish them.

1, 13 and 14 are examples of studio settings I've created using my flash and a reflector (or something similar to a reflector). The flash was bounced off of a white low ceiling, at an angle.

3 and 8 show the sun behind the model where I've used the flash to light up the model. In the case of number 8 I set my camera to expose the sky like I wanted, and bounced the flash of the gold side of my reflector (my assistant stood directly behind me, and I had twisted the flash to go of in that direction).

4 is a nice example of an everyday setting which benefited nice from using the flash. I was able to use no more that 100 ISO, capture the lights on the cake, and expose the people nicely by bouncing the flash up at the ceiling.

11 and 12 were situations where I had forgotten my reflector, and the ceiling was to high up for the flash to reach. I ended up having Anders stand behind me and turning the flash straight backwards so it bounced off of his shirt.

3 and 7 both show pictures were I've used the flash straight on, without diffusing it. This causes hard shadows. This effect can be achieved using an integrated flash too.

2, 5, 6, 9 and 10 are pictures taken where I've bounced the flash off of a ceiling that isn't white, which affects the temperature of the light. This is adjusted later in Photoshop if I feel like it.

There are many things you could buy to use with your flash, like a cable or transmitter so that you don't have to have it mounted on your camera. You can get a tripod so you don't have to hold it and you could get a softbox to diffuse the light. I don't have any of those things (yet), and I've managed just fine, so it's not a must by any means.

Where do you get most of your inspiration from?

Anything and everything. Movies, music, clothes, smells, languages, memories, friends, feelings, seasons, colours, I could go on and on.

Favourite photographer?

There are many photographers that I admire, but I don't have a definite list of favourites. I'm also terrible with names! But just to mention a few I'd say Tim Walker, Sally Mann and Sølve Sundsbø.

Can you share your favourite pictures with us and let us know why they are your favourites?

It changes constantly and I have a lot of faves (some of which are also in this post, like the suitcase pics), but here's two that I am really proud of. The first one I chose because I feel that it represents the sort of pictures I hope to take more of, and a style that I have slightly touched upon and that I wish to explore further. The other I chose because of the hard work behind it, because of my surprise at having created it, and because it gave me more confidence in myself. Also, I am such a sucker for pink and red together!

Who's your favourite model that you've worked with?

Probably the models that are my friends or family, just because I am more comfortable demanding things from them, directing them and being myself around them. That is something I am working on feeling comfortable with regardless of who the model is.

Apart from photography, what are your hobbies?

Sounds pathetic, but I don't have other hobbies! Photography really consumes 87% of my time, be it actually shooting, editing pictures, planning shoots or just thinking about photography or looking at photography.

What are you doing this summer?
I'll be working until the middle of July, then I suppose a lot of my time will be spent stressing out trying to find a place to live in England. Finding out what to bring and what to do with the things I don't bring will surely take some time, and of course I'm gonna be cramming in as much shoots as I possibly can, and hang out with my friends before we all scatter all over the place.

EDIT: Just got a mail yesterday saying I've gotten a place to live in Bournemouth!

What are your plans with regards to work/school?
I'm moving to England in September to attend the BA (hons) Photography course at AUCB!

Yes, I live at my mom's house.

Buffy and Angel are my absolute faves, but I also have mucho love for South Park, Skins (the British one of course), Family Guy, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice and True Blood. I'm terribly behind on many of them though, just waiting till I have the money to buy the DVDs, and the time to watch them!

Favourite bands?

I have a tiny pink lighting bolt on the side of my left wrist, which represents (god, that's so LA Ink!) my love for Harry Potter (and thus my childhood)! I will definitely have more! There's this one that I am dying to get but because of weight issues and how that'll affect the tattoo, and money of course, I'm reluctant to get it just now. I keep getting impulses of "do it now, goddammit, do it noooow", but I'm working hard on being patient.

Do you like Transformers and do you have a favourite?
My only experience with Transformers is ten minutes of the first movie with Megan Fox, which was rather painful to watch (thanks to miss Fox). So no, not really.

Do you sew your own clothes?
No, I don't, but I wish I had the skills though. I have a really hard time finding nice clothes that fit me, so being able to make my own would be great!

I spent the better part of my friday (after getting off work) scanning negatives, and I thought I'd show you some of the pictures. These are from the Arctic Monkeys concert I went to a few weeks back, taken with a disposable camera that expired in 2007. The paper is a set-list I got. I just had an impromptu shoot with my new-old Canon FX, and I messed everything up! Love it though, because I learn so much from experiences like that and I know I'll never make those mistakes again. I've gotten quite a few new followers these past days, which I'm sure I can thank Tine Katrine for, at least in part! And inspired by her, I'd just like to remind you guys that I have a list of blogs I like further down the page. Other than that, I had a shoot with Amela yesterday, in the studio I work at. I got to borrow it for three hours, which was great. Working with studio lighting isn't something I get to do often, so every chance I have to practice is greatly appreciated. I've also contacted a couple of other people about shooting, so I'll be spending some time planning for that. It feels great working actively with shooting and such, especially after a nasty experience I had this weekend that really put me off shooting people all together. Good thing I'm mostly past that now, but I sure learned something from that experience! The phrase "only ever photograph what you love" resonates even more with me now.

I packed everything I needed for two days of retouch-fun, except this tiny little piece for the outlet, thus resulting in no fun. And instead of showing you some of the shots I took of Hanne, I'm recycling old ones. To make up for the lack of productivity however, I have been enjoying watching documentaries on famous photographers. So far I've watched the stories of Richard Avedon, Annie Leibovitz, Diane Arbus, Sally Mann, and now I'm in the middle of one about Ansel Adams. Yay YouTube! Later today I'll be hearing Tim Walker speak (irl), and I can't begin to describe how excited I am!

Blogger decided to act up and delete my last entry, so here we go again.

Since the last time I blogged, I've
1. Been interning at Just Photo. I Also got to take part in a artistic nude photoshoot with Lise, the photographer at Just Photo, which was a first for me.
2. Been working on the website which will be up and running soon I hope. I'm basically learning as I go, so everything takes ages. It's coming along great though.
3. Been to a flea-market and bought three bags full of clothes (and a faux fur coat) for the neat price of 11$
4. Had a fun three and a half hour long shoot with Hanne. We brought so much stuff that the car was packed to the brim, but only ended up using a fraction.
5. Got two letters in the mail from AUCB, one of which included a taxi voucher from the airport to where I'll be living in the fall, making the whole moving to England thing very real.
6. Been editing pictures for the dear life of me.
7. Been trying to figure out how to write something that may get me a little sonthing-sonthing, and which is due in only three days.
8. Seen Arctic Monkeys live with Silje and walked off with a set list.
9. Been longing for May the 18th and Tim Walker. I die!

Ever since I was young, I've loved roaming through jewelry-boxes and the likes. I would pester my grandmother to let me look through hers, even though I had seen all her jewelry many times. And flee-markets are to me one big huge jewelry box! Or a treasure-hunt if you will. You kinda have to dig through a ton of crap to find that gem, but when you find it, it's so worth it!

This past Sunday my grandmother and I went to this huge indoor marked, and I found some lovely pieces of jewelry. I decided to have a little shoot, and I included some other things I've thrifted earlier. The only thing in the photos that isn't bought at a marked/in a second-hand shop, is the saint pendant.

Like I said before, I'm re-editing some old photos for the launch of my website, and here are two of them for your viewing pleasure. Don't really feel like blogging much right now, but I thought I'd update you guys slightly on what's going on. Yesterday was my first day interning at a local photo studio. I'll be there twice a week for the next three months, which is great. I also accepted the offer I got from AUCB, so I'll be studying photography there in the fall. I'm in the process of sending over my papers and applying for housing as we speak. And I guess that's it for now. I won't be a stranger or anything, I just need a few days.

This is a picture of my sister and Vicky taken last summer. Taking a decent picture of Vicky is very difficult. She'll look straight in to the camera, but just as you're about to press the shutter-button, she'll look away. She attacks people when they walk in the door because she is so happy to see them. Even if you were just outside for ten minutes, she acts like you've been gone for hours. She can recognize the sounds of our cars. If you achieve eye contact with her for even just a second she jumps up to be petted. She loves hugs, and being scratched on the belly, and human contact in general. And pig's ears. If she gets the chance, she'll run away, but she'll always come back after a little while. She used to come upstairs even if she wasn't allowed, but she stopped doing that. I think it's because she's afraid of the stairs after falling down one time to many. She refuses to go down to the basement were our bathroom is, and fully understands the meaning of the word "shower". If you're in the kitchen cooking, she'll sneak in, hoping some food will fall to the floor. She is the sweetest dog and I love her very much, and she died today.

The interview I had this past weekend went well, so I now have another school to consider. I'm trying to work out a visit to the UK, but I'm not too sure I'll have the time. And Kaizers at Spektrum was awesome! My legs were killing me, like seriously, but whenever the music would start up again, all pain was forgotten. And Janove crowd surfed right where we stood, so yeah, I touched Janove. Damn straight I did. A shame that I couldn't attend the party Tinagent hosted that same night, but I really had trouble standing after the show.

Tickets to Arctic Monkeys in Oslo in May were just bought, so I have more awesomness to look forward too, and I'm seeing Tim Walker on the 18th of May when he comes to Oslo to have a workshop with the lucky bastards over at Bilder Nordic! I'm so excited, I can't wait!

My sister had a dance recital at a local mall today, hence the heavy make-up. Afterwards my grandmother took us to get some pizza, and these were snapped in front of some Easter decorations while we waited for our order.

I love how the shadows from the branches hit the face in the last picture (which is my fave from that shoot), going right under the left eye and giving of a sorta Sparrow-ish feel imo. Hurray for lucky accidents.

I'm volunteering before an event Tinagent is holding tomorrow, helping mount pictures. I was there yesterday and I'm going back today. I was able to speak to various people also working there about school (mainly Oslo vs. UK) and I got some great advice which helps a long way. All the way to the UK actually. So with my lack of work not due to lack of looking, I've had to make other arrangements. I'll be interning two days a week at a local photography studio. Not much money in it for me, but I'm more excited about the experience and the chance to learn more about the business. Just need to sort out the paperwork and get a final "OK" and we're a go! Because seriously, this much spare time isn't healthy.

Also, I've been struggling a lot these past few days. I've been so sure about moving to the UK and attending school there for the past two-three years, and now all of a sudden a school in Oslo is starting to get my attention. But I hate Oslo. But the school seems great! But I love England! And I hate Oslo. Dammit. And I have to make up my mind very soon of whether or not to apply, because the deadline is April 15.

My days have been spent editing photos, kinda planning more shoots and trying to work out something that'll fill up my days (which I really need). I'll tell you more when I know more. Trying to come to a decision about school and next Fall has been pushed back until the beginning of April, when I head in to Oslo to talk to yet another school (and see Kaizers! Anyone else going?), and that's pretty much status quo up in here.

Writing has never been my forte and I feel utterly perplexed when trying to convey something to you guys in writing. I never know what to share, what not to share, and I have zero ideas about what you might actually want to read about. This is a blog owned by someone who loves photography, but that doesn't mean I can't share stuff that isn't related to that subject (although I swear, photography is 98% of all I think about). I actually have tons of new pictures to show you guys, but for some reason I'm a bit hesitant to upload them just yet. Don't really know what that's about, but instead I'm blogging this picture that I re-edited.

Since falling ill last Wednesday I've been cooped up in the house and going a bit stir crazy, so it's an understatement to say that getting out today was nice. I drove around, did some errands and a little shopping. Picked up something I'm gonna be using for a shoot too (long pink wig), and just breathed in the fresh air.

So of course I've managed to get sick right now when I have tons to do. Hopefully I'll be good by Monday when I have a dentist appointment. Can you imagine coughing while the dentist is probing around in your mouth? I've already had my tongue pierced once, and that was enough.

Aside from coughing myself to a headache every five minutes and not being able to do much editing, I've been drooling over London-guides and dreaming away. September can't come soon enough! Not that I've decided on schools yet, but hopefully a day or two in London will be possible regardless of which one I choose.

I've been busy fixing and improving some of my old stuff so that it's ready to be uploaded to the website when that's done. This is my 7-series, based on the seven deadly sins. I've blogged this before, but I felt it deserved to be re-blogged, being new and improved and all. Models are Anne and Sondre, assistant was Hanne (plus I got loads of help collecting props from Anders and Live).

Exploring my hometown before I leave it for however long, with the camera by my side documenting our journey through the streets I didn't know were here.

Spending time with friends doing nothing but still never feeling bored. We will talk about the future, and invite each other to our new apartments and our new cities and our new countries.

Applying for jobs, all sorts of jobs, and getting just the one I wanted.

Longer days, melting snow, lighter heart. Planning shoots because of it. And then shoot after shoot after shoot, and getting better and better and better after each one.

A p r i l .
Working hard and making money, but enjoying it. Saving up for those things that I want and that I need and that I want so much that I feel like I need it.

One of those things being a new tattoo. Heading in to Oslo to get it done, and knowing I will love it forever. While there I'll see Kaizers Orchestra at Oslo Spektrum.

M a y .
Taking a trip over the pond, to the city I'll be living in for the next three years, all by myself, because that's the way I'll be traveling in the fall, and I better get used to it.

Meeting people there who I'll see again in the fall, and we will be great friends.

J u n e .
Spending long days and all night at the beach at the park at wherever, soaking up sun and looking up at the stars and just feeling free with friends and with new people. Taking pictures and drinking and talking and kissing and laughing and dancing.

Getting work as a photographer, and feeling confident and feeling that "yes, I can do this, and I can do it well".

J u l y .
I'll have everything done and ready 'till the fall, and I won't have anything to worry about. The flat I've found is big and beautiful and cheap, and I won't need any roommates, but I'll have great neighbors in return.

Festivalfestivalfestival, and all my favourite bands and artists play, and my friends and I'll be drunk and happy and happy and drunk, like one should be on a festival.

A u g u s t .
I'll be busybusybusy with photography, and that will feel amazing! I'll be working with people I've never met, and people I've known for years, but never had the courage to ask to model for me.

There will be rainy days among the sunny hot ones, and there's gonna be movies and books on those days.

S e p t e m b e r .
Everyone's scattered all over the world, and getting settled and ready for school and adventure. Scary and amazing all at the same time.

School is everything I hoped it would be.

O c t o b e r .
I'll find time to explore my new town now that the dust has settled a bit. Again with the camera by my side. We'll find parks, and vintage shops, and places I can't wait to visit again.

At school I'll learn loads, and I will be sure that this is what's right for me.

N o v e m b e r .
School and parties and new people and great experiences. Things are going great.

I'll get an exiting commission as a photographer, for a band or a designer or something cool like that.

D e c e m b e r .
Heading home for Christmas, like all my other friends. We will meet up and share stories.

Christmas will be magical, like when I was a child. Cinderella on TV, the smell of food in the air, and big fluffy snowflakes falling outside the window.

Taken about ten minutes before the end of my teenage years. That's right, tomorrow (well, actually today, but I haven't gone to bed yet so it doesn't count) I turn 20. In the picture I'm holding a portrait taken of me on my very first birthday. So, wish me "happy birthday" and make me smile :)

Today I attended the education fair in Lillestrøm, which resulted in two more offers, one from Middlesex Uni and the other from the Arts University College at Bournemouth. This means I now have offers from those two schools as well as University College Falmouth and Swansea Metropolitan University. This is all fine and dandy of course, but I'm still at a complete loss as to which schools I'm going to apply to, let alone which one I'm going to attend...

Tomorrow I'm heading in to Oslo to meet dear Anders, who kindly agreed (was forced) to be my assistant (bitch) tomorrow, for a shoot I'm having with a model I've never met. I'm looking forward to it.

I took these in March of last year. I remember working really hard to get this shoot together, and feeling rather disappointed with the result. However, I've been working with these for the past two days, and I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. My main regret concerning the day of the shoot, looking back on it now, is that I didn't use a tripod so that I could get the same perspective on all the shots. Although I am pleased with the images, I may revisit this idea sometime in the future.

On New Year's I got a chance to test out my new flash, and boy oh boy, do I love that flash. When I was younger, the wintertime didn't bother me much, but after I got interested in photography I really started to dislike the winter season. You'd wake up, it's dark. You'd come home from school, it's dark. Inside, it's dark. I felt really limited during winter, but now, it's like a whole new world has opened up (cheese factor I know, but bear with me), and I can shoot when I want, where I want (not really, but it feels like it). Ah, this is great! All I need now is a chord, so I don't have to have the flash mounted on the camera if I don't want to :) Seriously, the joys of a good flash are many. I can't wait to try it out more, and learn more about it.

It's a new year, I'm glad to be here.

A New Year's Eve filled with lots of people, fireworks, turkeys being ravaged before I got to shoot it (see what I did there?), a dad that wasn't supposed to come, but did so anyway, saving me from celebrating my first New Year's without him, and a grandmother playing coy when her husband went to give her a hug. Oh, and a celebration of all the December kids, that being my brother, aunt and grandfather. All in all, a very nice start on the new year!

As you can see, I'm now writing in English. There are several reasons for this, one being that you can't take over the world with a Norwegian written blog.

Nah, just kidding.

Or am I? No but really, I have high aspirations, and I hope one day my photography takes me all over the world. I also appreciate the power a blog can hold, and I've seen the benefits of putting in the effort to maintain a good blog. I don't really have anything planned until the Fall (though I desperately hope to get a job sometime around NOW), so why not dedicate more time and effort here. Also, this is great practice for when I move to the UK!

There are a few more changes planned, like a new and more user friendly design, but I'm still kinda pleased with what I've got going now, so I'm not gonna stress over it.

In 2080 I'll surely be dead.

Når jeg gikk gjennom harddisken min slo det meg at jeg har tonnevis med bilder som jeg ikke har vist dere. Hovedgrunnen er nå at de fleste bildene ikke er blitt redigert, men slenger da med noen få bilder dere ikke har sett enda. Merket også at noen måneder hadde jeg nesten ikke fått tatt bilder (februar og desember blant annet), mens andre måneder har jeg vært skikkelig produktiv (sommermånedene). Har håp om at i 2011 skal hver måned være fylt med fotorelatert aktivitet.

Ville egentlig lage et fint lite "året 2010"-innlegg, med bilder og forklaringer og blah blah blah, men jeg lå og kastet opp i natt (uten å ha gleden av å være/ha vært full), så jeg er litt slabberdask. Men hva bloggen angår, så har det jo virkelig eksplodert i 2010, og det er jeg veldig takknemlig for. Dere er så søte, og jeg blir så glad (og motivert) av kommentarene deres ^^

Håper alle har en fin nyttårsfeiring, og at all eventuell oppkast kommer som følge av alkohol og ikke noe annet :P

Btw, ikke freak hvis neste innlegg blir på engelsk. Er noe jeg har vurdert lenge, og tror jeg kommer til å skrive på engelsk fra og med 2011!

I går var det fest, og det var så godt å henge med vennene mine igjen, og koselig å møte på kjentfolk ute på byen. Jeg stjal et engangskamera hjemmefra som jeg brukte i går, så skal stikke på fotobutikken en gang på nyåret og få bildene fremkalt.

Dagen i dag har gått med på å rydde ut av hybelen. Har fått kjørt bort en god del av greiene nå, men trengs to turer for å få med alt, så jeg blir på hybelen i natt, også kommer bestemor og bestefar oppover i morgen. Suits me fine, her er det jo internett :D Har ikke noe særlig med bilder på macen, men tenkte jeg skulle vise dere noen bilder jeg tok av hybelen for en stund tilbake.

Juleaften var veldig koselig, og jeg fikk kjempemye fint (men back to that later)! Og, jeg fikk endelig prøvd ut kameraet! Det var ISO herfra og til månen, men når rommet er opplyst av stearinlys og en TV, så blir det sånn. Jeg er uansett mektig imponert over kameraet, I love it!

Håper alle dere hadde en kjempefin juleaften, og fortsetter å kose dere i romjulen!

I går var jeg super busy, med kake og kako (og julegave^^) hos de jeg var utplassert hos, og så stresse på hybelen og røske med meg det jeg trenger av ting, før turen gikk hemmat tell a mor og det var ordneordneordne seg og så MK-julebord, som var kjempekoselig :D Og i dag så har jeg sovet av meg julebordet, stressa litt fordi bilen ikke ville funke ordentlig, og så kjørt til farmor og farfar i Elverum hvor det er god mat (og internett, lol).

Etter vitnemålsutdelingen skulle jeg egentlig kose meg skikkelig med å teste ut 5Den, men jeg klarte jo å sovne mens batteriet drev å lada seg opp, så jeg har jo faktisk ikke hatt noe tid til å se på kameraet før just nu. Og tror dere ikke at jeg klarte å huske kamera og reflektor, men glemme objektiv og minnekort når jeg dro til Elverum i dag? Når jeg oppdaga det så jeg sånn ut D: Så den eneste morroa jeg kan ha med kameraet nå, er å stille inn dato og klokkeslett -___-

Graduation Day.

I anledning vitnemålsutdelingen kom mamma og bestemor oppover, og da hadde de med seg 5Den min :D :D :D Jeg skal ikke gjøre annet i kveld enn å kooose meg med å teste ut kameraet, lese manualen og ja, rett og slett bli vant til det. Jeg tenkte at siden jeg nå for det meste kommer til å bruke 5D, burde jeg lage et lite takkforalt-innlegg til mitt kjære og trofaste 400D.

Det hele startet høsten 2007. Jeg gikk førsteåret media, og vi skulle ha foto på skolen. Jeg hadde aldri holdt i et speilreflekskamera, og hadde aldri hørt om ting som ISO, blender og lukker. På skolen hadde vi Nikon-kameraer, så hvorfor jeg ikke endte opp med Nikon, er egentlig litt rart. Eller kanskje ikke. Ei i klassen hadde akkurat kjøpt seg Canon 400D, og jeg fikk lov til å prøve hennes en dag. Husker jeg tok bilder av skoene mine, røde Converse. Haha, jeg var så fascinert av hvor pent alt ble. Og liten dypdeskarphet! Jeg elsket det!

Jeg hadde en del penger på kontoen courtesy av Lånekassen, og det var tilbud på 400D. Allikevel tok jeg ikke steget med å kjøpe det helt sånn uten videre. Jeg var ikke vant til å ha så mye penger, og jeg hadde heller ikke for vane å spontankjøpe dyre ting, så jeg følte at jeg måtte snakke med mamma om det. Husker jeg gikk inn på stua, og sa at jeg vurderte å kjøpe et kamera, og at det var tilbud på det. Jeg nevnte også at TV2 Hjelper Deg skulle ha en test på kameraer sånn omtrent... Nå. Så da endte det opp med at vi satt og så på TV2. Tror den testen var helt til slutt i programmet også, og jaggu fikk ikke Canon 400D full pott. Så da sa mamma at hun syntes jeg skulle kjøpe kameraet, hvis det var det jeg ville. Ble egentlig litt overrasket, for jeg hadde ikke demonstrert noe særlig interesse for foto tidligere, og trodde egentlig hun kom til å be meg om å vente litt.

I steden dro vi dagen etter (tro jeg det var), og kjøpte kameraet. Da jeg fikk det var det derimot en død pixel på skjermen, så mamma tok den med seg tilbake til butikken for å bytte den. Da måtte jeg vente i noen dager på at de skulle få inn en annen en. Føltes som en evighet. Mannen i butikken hadde jo prøvd å guilt trippe mamma, og si at Canon hadde sagt til han at èn død pixel egentlig ikke var grunn til reklamasjon, at det måtte være minst fem, men fordi han var så "snill" skulle vi få bytte (hallo, hørt om 14 dagers angrerett eller?). Pffft, FEM døde pixler på en 2,5" skjerm. LIES. But I digress. Fikk i alle fall det nye kameraet etter noen dager, og det var starten på something beautiful (lol).

Så og si alt jeg har tatt av bilder, har jeg tatt med Canon 400D. Jeg har jo fått muligheten til å ta bilder med andre kameraer (Hasseblad, Canon 5D, Nikon D3x osv), men det er med 400D jeg har lært alt jeg kan om foto.Nå skal jeg gå og åpne (den veldig store!!!) pakken som det nye kameraet mitt ligger i, også håper jeg at det er manko på døde pixler ^^

I dag hadde jeg eksamen, og foruten vitnemålsutdeling mandagkveld, er jeg offisielt ferdig med min videregående utdanning. Så. Herlig. For å feire redigerte jeg noen bilder jeg tok av Anne i juni 09. Nå har jeg endelig tid til å bare fokusere på foto (og skolesøking, men skal gi meg selv noen dager før jeg begynner å stresse med det).

Og i dag tidlig fikk jeg melding fra posten om at 5Den min kunne hentes! :D Desverre får jeg ikke kameraet i hendene før bestemor tar det med seg til Lillehammer på mandag. Hadde på èn måte vært greit å ha i morgen, for da skal jeg ha shoot, men ettersom jeg ikke helt vet hvordan det brukes enda så er det kanskje like greit at jeg bruker trofaste 400D.
